About High-Tg PCB
The glass transition temperature (Tg) is the point where a laminate starts to soften. Standard FR4 sits around Tg 130–140 °C. High-Tg materials at Tg 170 °C or above keep their shape, and their plated through-holes stay reliable, through lead-free reflow, repeated soldering and hot operating conditions.
We supply high-Tg (TG170) boards from 4 to 8 layers with immersion gold finishes, fine lines down to 4/4 mil, and impedance control.
Typical applications
- Automotive electronics
- Industrial controls and power equipment
- Multilayer boards that go through several reflow cycles
- LED drivers
- Servers and networking hardware
Common questions
When should I specify high-Tg FR4?
For lead-free assembly with several reflow passes, thick multilayer boards, heavy copper, or products that run hot. A higher Tg reduces expansion through the board thickness, which protects plated holes from cracking.
Does high-Tg cost more than standard FR4?
The laminate costs somewhat more. If you are not sure which you need, send your design and we can quote both options.
